My Saturn return completely dismantled my life — and I'm grateful for it

Between 28 and 30, everything I thought I'd built fell apart. The relationship I thought was forever. The career I'd spent six years on. The city I'd made my home. All of it gone within eighteen months.
At the time I had no framework for it. I just felt like I was failing at being an adult. It was only afterwards, when a friend mentioned Saturn returns, that I started to understand what had happened — not as failure, but as necessary demolition.
I'm 33 now and everything I have is something I chose consciously, not something I drifted into. The work I do, the people I'm close to, the way I spend my time. I'm not saying astrology explains everything — but the Saturn return framework gave me a way to make meaning of chaos, and that mattered.
Anyone else been through this? I'd love to hear how others navigated it — or are navigating it right now.

I'm in the middle of mine right now and this is exactly what I needed to read. Thank you for sharing this.

The 'necessary demolition' framing is so good. I think of it as the universe asking: is this actually yours, or did you just inherit it? Everything that wasn't truly yours gets cleared.

Mine hit at 29. Lost the job, ended the engagement, moved back home. At 34 I can say: best thing that ever happened to me. Hang in there, Jamie.
